States Requiring Insurance ???

A place to talk about geocaching (outside the Blue Line) in general. Anything Geocaching related can be talked about here...unless it more appropriately fits another forum category.

States Requiring Insurance ???

I am passing on an email that genegene sent me regarding his upcoming event:

"I have posted this info on the W.M.G. website and wanted to give you a heads up on it. It may or may not affect you now, but it may someday in the future as Massachusetts is looking for ways to generate money for there coffers, soon every state will be as well.

Its only a matter of time before we all start to run into the problems I am currently having trying to keep the 4th Annual WMG Picnic Event from being canceled.

If you have no idea as to what is going on with the event, read my last few posts on the WMG Forums or on the Picnic listing GC1ZGC1 as I update them both quite frequently lately.

Once your read this info, please pass this on to your Geocaching friends as it is important information that needs to be known and shared."

It will only be a matter of time before the Empire State adopts a similar measure and probably with the proviso that a portion of the fee will go to the state's general fund. Let's all hope that the idiots in Albany don't come up with the bright idea of creating a 'Geocaching License'. What part of 'stop spending so much money' don't they understand? If our elected representatives spent as much brain power trying to come up with a balanced budget as they do in figuring out how to impose another tax, we'd all be better off.
